Use these safety guidelines whenever you post, respond, message, meet, or help someone through Geeran.

1. Important Platform Notice

Geeran is a technology platform that helps neighbors connect. Geeran does not employ, supervise, background-check, control, or guarantee users. Users are responsible for making safe decisions, communicating clearly, and deciding whether to meet, help, hire, pay, or interact with another person.

2. Use Good Judgment

Before accepting help or offering help, review the user's profile, messages, activity, ratings, and any available trust signals.

Do not continue an interaction if something feels suspicious, rushed, unsafe, or uncomfortable.

3. Protect Your Personal Information

Do not share sensitive personal information such as:

  • Social Security number
  • Bank account information
  • Credit card information
  • Passwords
  • Verification codes
  • Copies of personal documents
  • Exact home address unless necessary and trusted
  • Private family or child information

Geeran will never ask you to share your password or verification code with another user.

4. Meet Safely

When possible:

  • Meet in public or visible areas
  • Tell someone you trust where you are going
  • Keep your phone with you
  • Avoid isolated locations
  • Trust your instincts
  • Leave immediately if you feel unsafe

For home-related help, consider having another adult present.

5. Communicate Clearly

Before starting a task, agree on:

  • What help is needed
  • Time and location
  • Expected duration
  • Any payment or reimbursement
  • Safety expectations
  • Whether tools, transportation, or supplies are needed

Clear expectations help prevent misunderstandings.

6. Watch for Red Flags

Be careful if someone:

  • Asks for money upfront
  • Wants to move communication off-platform immediately
  • Pressures you to act quickly
  • Refuses to provide basic details
  • Gives inconsistent information
  • Requests sensitive personal information
  • Makes you feel uncomfortable
  • Offers something that seems too good to be true

7. Report Suspicious Activity

Report users or posts that involve:

  • Harassment
  • Threats
  • Fraud
  • Unsafe requests
  • Discrimination
  • Spam
  • Fake profiles
  • Inappropriate content
  • Illegal activity

8. Emergencies

Geeran is not an emergency service.

If there is immediate danger, a crime in progress, a medical emergency, fire, or urgent safety concern, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately.

9. Our Safety Approach

Geeran may use community reporting, profile information, location-based signals, moderation tools, reviews, and account restrictions to help protect users.

However, no platform can eliminate all risk. Users are responsible for making safe decisions when interacting with others.

Neighborhood help works best when people are kind, careful, respectful, and honest.
